Run Wild My Child
Run wild my child
along the shore
and even though the tide will sweep away
tiny castles
formed by gleeful toes,
don’t think for one second
that you go unnoticed.
That your gifts
and grit
and strength
and smiles
and tears
don’t matter.
Your freckles may grow fainter
and your miniature footprints may wash away
but know,
right now,
in this moment,
you are moving sand
that once formed mountains.
And that strength –
the strength of one thousand glaciers –
will never fade.
